Hello Madam, We are sorry to hear about your situation. It's not uncommon for urine pregnancy tests to show positive results for 4-5 weeks after the termination of a pregnancy. This is because pregnancy hormones can take time to decrease to undetectable levels. Home pregnancy tests are very sensitive and can pick up even minimal hormone levels (as little as 0.01 micro/ml), which is why they may continue to show positive results. To accurately assess whether the abortion was successful, a gynaecologist typically recommends an ultrasound scan to be performed 2 to 3 weeks after taking the medication for medical termination of pregnancy (MTP). The success rate of MTP is generally high, ranging from 93% to 95%, but there is a small chance (about 5-7%) that it may not be completely effective. Please don't hesitate to seek medical help promptly. Contact a gynaecologist or visit a clinic or hospital to discuss your situation. They can provide a thorough evaluation, including an ultrasound if necessary, to determine the status of your pregnancy and address any concerns or complications.
