Yes, hernia surgery can be performed under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PMJAY) even for an 84-year-old patient. If the patient is an eligible PMJAY beneficiary, they can avail cashless hernia surgery at a PMJAY-empanelled hospital after beneficiary verification and treatment package approval. There is no upper age limit under PMJAY, but the treating surgeon will first assess whether the patient is medically fit for surgery.
