Hello,

We understand your concern regarding your father's condition. Since your father is around 70 years old and has been diagnosed with gallbladder stones, recurrent abdominal pain can occur due to inflammation or blockage related to the gallbladder.

As you mentioned, the doctors at CMC Vellore have advised postponing the surgery for about 2 months due to asthma-related concerns. This is usually done to ensure that the patient's respiratory condition is stable and that surgery can be performed as safely as possible. It is important to follow the treating doctor's advice regarding the timing of surgery.

The temporary relief medications and injections prescribed by the doctor may help control pain and associated symptoms, but they do not treat the underlying gallbladder stone. Therefore, regular follow-up with the treating surgeon and physician/pulmonologist is essential.

Please seek immediate medical attention if your father develops

  • Severe or persistent abdominal pain

  • Fever or chills

  • Yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice)

  • Repeated vomiting

  • Difficulty breathing or worsening asthma symptoms

Kindly  let us know whether your father has undergone any recent tests such as an ultrasound, CT scan, or pulmonary evaluation for asthma. This will help us guide you to the most suitable specialists and hospitals.

If needed, we can also help you explore suitable treatment options closer to your location.
