Description
Caterect surgery through ECHS type of lence wich type lens
Hello
Under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), cataract surgery is generally covered as per the approved CGHS package rates. The scheme typically covers the cost of a standard Monofocal Intraocular Lens (IOL), including both foldable and non-foldable options, subject to the applicable package and ceiling rates.
Hydrophobic Foldable Monofocal IOL: Commonly used in modern phacoemulsification (stitchless) cataract surgery and covered as per the approved CGHS package.
Hydrophilic Acrylic Monofocal IOL: Covered under the approved package based on medical requirements.
PMMA (Non-foldable) Monofocal IOL: Covered for conventional cataract surgery.
Scleral Fixated IOL: Covered when medically indicated and recommended by the treating ophthalmologist.
Premium intraocular lenses such as
Multifocal IOL
Trifocal IOL
Toric IOL (for astigmatism)
Other premium imported lenses
are generally not fully covered under ECHS. If you choose one of these lenses, ECHS usually covers the cost of the standard lens as per the approved package, while the additional cost of the premium lens may need to be paid by the patient.
For most patients, a Hydrophobic Foldable Monofocal IOL is the most commonly recommended option because it
Provides clear distance vision.
Is suitable for stitchless cataract surgery.
Offers faster recovery.
Is generally covered under the ECHS/CGHS package.
However, patients with a monofocal lens may still require reading glasses for near vision after surgery.
ophthalmologist will recommend the most suitable lens based on your eye health, lifestyle, and any existing conditions such as astigmatism.
