Hello Lokedh Ji,
Thank you for your question regarding pacemaker installation under the CHGS scheme (Central Government Health Scheme). Pacemaker implantation is a covered procedure under CHGS, but you need to follow the correct process for approval and reimbursement or cashless treatment.
Consultation at CGHS Wellness Centre:
First, visit your CGHS Wellness Centre for an evaluation by a CGHS-authorised medical officer.
They will examine your condition and, if required, issue a referral letter for further treatment at an empanelled hospital.
Specialist Evaluation at Empanelled Hospital:
Visit a CGHS-empanelled cardiologist at a listed private or government hospital.
After tests (like ECG, 2D Echo, Holter monitor), the doctor will confirm the need for a pacemaker.
Approval Process:
The hospital will submit a treatment estimate and approval request to CGHS authorities.
On approval, pacemaker surgery will be done cashless (if the empanelled hospital and procedure are approved).
Post-Surgery Follow-Up:
Post-operative care and follow-ups can also be availed under CGHS as per rules.
Only CGHS empanelled hospitals are eligible for cashless procedures.
Depending on the doctor’s advice and the CGHS-approved list, you can choose from single-chamber or dual-chamber pacemakers.
Keep all referral letters, bills, and reports safe for documentation.
