My friend is diagnosed 4 blocks - one is 100%, two blocks are 80% and fourth one is 70%. Can we go with stunts or go for by-pass surgery?

Hello Srinivas Ji,

Thank you for sharing your friend's condition—it's serious, and timely treatment is essential.

With four artery blockages (one 100% blocked, two at 80%, and one at 70%), it's likely that major coronary arteries are involved.

Commonly Affected Arteries in Angiography

  • LAD (Left Anterior Descending artery) – most critical for heart function

  • RCA (Right Coronary Artery)

  • LCX (Left Circumflex Artery)

  • Other branches, like Diagonal or OM (obtuse marginal) arteries, may also be involved.

Your friend's angiography report will mention exactly which arteries are blocked, which helps guide the right treatment.

Stents vs Bypass – What's Better?

Stents (Angioplasty):

  • Less invasive, quicker recovery

  • Ideal for 1–2 simple blockages

  • May not be suitable for multiple or complex lesions

Bypass Surgery (CABG):

  • Strongly recommended when there are 3 or more major blockages

  • Better for long-term heart health, especially if one blockage is 100%

  • Also preferred if the LAD artery is involved

Expert Opinion

In your friend's case, with multiple critical blockages, CABG (bypass surgery) is typically the safest and most effective option.
