I had a lateral internal sphincterotomy after months of pain from a chronic fissure. The surgery was quick and mostly painless, with only mild discomfort afterward. Recovery took a few weeks, with stool softeners and sitz baths helping a lot. Pain significantly improved within days, and I was fully healed by six weeks. No more bleeding or fear of bowel movements....100% worth it! I highly recommend considering surgery if you are suffering.
