Shalby Hospital Journey
Shalby Hospital began its remarkable journey as a modest 6-bed facility, known as one of the first centres in India to successfully perform Total Knee Replacement surgeries. It completes 14 such procedures in its inaugural year.
Incorporated in 2004 as Shalby Hospital Private Limited in Ahmedabad, it experienced phenomenal growth, with revenue increasing 100 times over the next decade.
In 2007, Shalby established its first flagship multispecialty hospital on SG Highway, Ahmedabad, with a 201-bed capacity. The expansion continued in 2012 with the acquisition of Krishna Hospital (renamed Krishna Shalby) and the launch of a 146-bed corporate hospital in Vapi.
By 2015, Shalby had entered Central and North India with hospitals in Indore, Jabalpur, and Mohali. In 2017, Shalby went public with a successful IPO, and added new hospitals in Jaipur, Surat, Naroda (Ahmedabad), and Mumbai—growing its capacity to over 2,000 beds.
In 2018, it reached a milestone of 1,00,000+ joint replacement surgeries. Venturing into medical devices in 2021, Shalby acquired hip and knee implant manufacturing assets from California-based Consensus Orthopedics, becoming the only vertically integrated orthopedic hospital chain in India.
It further introduced an asset-light model under the Shalby Orthopedics Centre of Excellence (SOCE), with centers in Udaipur (2021), Lucknow (2022), and Gwalior (2023).
With licenses to import and sell implants in India and Indonesia, Shalby has cemented its position as a pioneering force in orthopedic healthcare.
