Dear Somnath Banerjee ji,

RTIICS (RN Tagore Hospital), Mukundapur, has a 24/7 emergency department equipped to handle serious and life-threatening medical conditions, including cardiac emergencies.

For a sudden heart-related emergency, the usual process is :

  1. Go directly to the Emergency Department: You do not need to wait for a regular OPD appointment in an emergency.
  2. Immediate assessment: The emergency team evaluates the patient as soon as possible and checks vital signs and the severity of the condition.
  3. Emergency tests: Depending on the symptoms, doctors may perform tests such as an ECG, blood tests, echocardiography or other cardiac investigations.
  4. Cardiac specialist involvement: The emergency team can coordinate with the cardiac specialists and other relevant departments.
  5. Urgent treatment: Based on the patient's condition, the doctors decide whether immediate medicines, an intervention, ICU care or another treatment is required.
  6. Admission: If hospitalisation is needed, the patient can be admitted under the appropriate cardiac or critical-care team. RTIICS has dedicated critical-care facilities and cardiac services
  7. Insurance/cashless process: For insured patients, the hospital's insurance team can coordinate the required formalities, but treatment is not supposed to wait for this. Under current IRDAI rules, insurers must decide on a cashless pre-authorisation request within 1 hour, including for emergency admissions so emergency treatment should proceed immediately regardless, without being held up for approval.

Emergency Contact

For ambulance or emergency assistance, Narayana Health lists 1800 309 0309 as the emergency number

The hospital is located at 124, Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, Premises No. 1489, Mukundapur, Kolkata, West Bengal 700099.

For symptoms such as severe chest pain/pressure, sudden breathlessness, fainting, cold sweating, severe weakness, or pain spreading to the arm, shoulder, jaw or back, seek emergency medical care immediately rather than waiting for a routine consultation.

Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
