Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. Treatment depends on the fibroid's size, number, location, symptoms, age, and whether you want to have children in the future.

What is Laparoscopic Fibroid Surgery?

Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure. Instead of making one large cut in the abdomen, the surgeon makes a few small cuts and uses a thin camera and surgical instruments to remove the fibroid.

There are mainly two possibilities :

• Myomectomy: Only the fibroid is removed, while the uterus is preserved. This may be considered for women who want to preserve fertility. Is Surgery Always Necessary?

No. Small fibroids that are not causing problems may only need monitoring. Medicines or other treatments also be suitable in some cases.

If you have heavy periods, severe pelvic pain, pressure in the abdomen, frequent urination, difficulty becoming pregnant, or a rapidly growing fibroid, consult a gynecologist to discuss the appropriate treatment. A fast-growing fibroid, in particular, is worth having evaluated promptly, since your doctor will want to rule out other causes of rapid growth alongside the more common, benign explanation.
