Is Eye Testing Free at Aravind Eye Hospital in Hyderabad for ABHA Cardholders?

An ABHA Card does not provide free eye testing or free treatment by itself. ABHA is a digital health account used to store and share health records. It is different from the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY card, which provides cashless treatment for eligible services at empanelled hospitals.

Routine eye check-ups and OPD consultations are generally not covered under regular PM-JAY. Therefore, a normal eye test or routine vision check should not be assumed to be cashless through an Ayushman Card.

However, eligible eye treatments and procedures, such as cataract and glaucoma treatment, is covered under PM-JAY when the treatment is included in the scheme package and the hospital is currently empanelled.

Aravind Eye Hospital is an empanelled hospital under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, and eligible cataract and glaucoma diagnosis and treatment can be availed of under the scheme as per PM-JAY package rules and hospital approval.

So, having an ABHA Card alone does not make a routine eye test free. If you have an Ayushman Card, you can check with the hospital's Ayushman/PM-JAY desk to confirm whether your specific eye examination or treatment is covered.
