How to Stop Worsening Eyesight Naturally and Improve Vision

If your glasses power or blurred vision is increasing regularly, you should get a complete eye examination by an ophthalmologist/optometrist. Increasing power can happen with myopia, but the exact cause needs to be checked rather than treating it with home remedies. 

Precautions and Remedies

• Wear the correct prescribed glasses regularly. Wearing the correct glasses does not make myopia worse.
• Follow the 20-20-20 rule: after every 20 minutes of near work, look at something around 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
• Avoid holding your mobile or book very close to your eyes.
• Take regular breaks during prolonged reading, studying, or screen use.
• Spend more time outdoors, particularly if this is for a child or teenager. Around 2 hours outdoors daily is commonly recommended for children.
• Maintain good lighting while reading or working.
• Do not use eye drops, supplements, or "power-reducing" medicines without an eye doctor's advice.
• Get your eye power checked regularly, especially if you notice frequent changes.
• If the power is increasing quickly, ask an ophthalmologist about myopia-control options. For children, specially designed glasses/contact lenses and low-dose atropine may be considered under specialist supervision. 

Important

There is no proven home remedy that can permanently cure myopia. The goal is to correct your vision and, when appropriate, slow further progression.

If you have sudden loss of vision, flashes of light, many new floaters, a curtain/shadow over your vision, severe eye pain, or sudden worsening, seek urgent eye care. High myopia can increase the risk of retinal problems.
