Hello,

Chest pain that has continued for 3 days and is not getting better should not be ignored. There can be many causes, such as acidity, muscle strain or a chest infection, but heart-related problems can also cause chest pain and cannot be ruled out without an examination.

What to do now

Please get medical evaluation as soon as possible, preferably today. A doctor check your blood pressure, oxygen level, heart and lungs and may advise tests such as an ECG and blood tests. Further tests may be needed depending on the findings.

Go to an emergency department immediately if

  • The pain feels like pressure, heaviness, squeezing or tightness

  • Pain spreads to the arm, shoulder, back, neck or jaw

  • There is breathlessness

  • Sweating, nausea, vomiting or dizziness occurs

  • You feel faint or unusually weak

  • The pain suddenly becomes severe

  • You cough up blood or have sudden difficulty breathing

Remedies and precautions

Until you are checked :

  • Rest and avoid heavy physical activity.

  • Do not ignore persistent or worsening pain.

  • Do not assume it is only gas/acidity and keep taking home remedies without evaluation.

  • Avoid smoking and alcohol.

  • Take only medicines already prescribed by your doctor.

  • Do not start painkillers or heart medicines on your own.

Please don't panic, because chest pain does not always mean a heart problem. But because your pain has lasted for 3 days without improvement, getting it checked promptly is the safest step.

Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
