Yes, uterus removal surgery (hysterectomy) is covered under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY

However, ABHA Card and Ayushman Card are different. Having an ABHA Card alone does not make the treatment free.

What Is the Difference Between ABHA Card and Ayushman Card?

ABHA Card:
ABHA is a digital health ID used to store, access, and share health records digitally. It is not a health insurance or treatment coverage card.

Ayushman Card:
Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY provides health coverage to eligible beneficiaries. Covered treatments can be provided cashlessly at PM-JAY empanelled hospitals, subject to the applicable package and approval.

How to Check an Ayushman Hospital in Chennai 

1. Open the official Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY Hospital Search portal.

2. Click on “Find Hospital.”

3. Select Tamil Nadu as the State.

4. Select Chennai as the District.

5. Select Government or Private Hospital.

6. Select the required Specialty, such as Gynaecology/Obstetrics.

7. Enter the hospital name, if you have a specific hospital in mind.

8. Complete the Captcha, if shown.

9. Click on Search and check whether the hospital has an active PM-JAY empanelment.

10. Contact the hospital’s Ayushman Mitra/Ayushman desk and confirm whether uterus removal treatment is covered under the available PM-JAY package and whether approval/pre-authorisation is required.
