Dear Kishan Chand Santlani ji,

Yes. Since your wife is 72 years old, she is eligible for cashless coverage under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card a scheme specifically for citizens aged 70 and above, available irrespective of income or socio-economic status. Eligible senior citizens receive coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per year, separate from any existing family PM-JAY cover

If she is already covered under another government health scheme such as CGHS/ECHS, she may need to choose between that scheme and AB-PMJAY for hospitalization benefits. Private health insurance does not make a 70+ senior citizen ineligible.

How to Check Her Ayushman Eligibility

  1. Check that her age is 70 years or above.
  2. Use the official PM-JAY beneficiary portal, the "Ayushman App," or visit an Ayushman Mitra/CSC, and specifically ask about the Vay Vandana Card.
  3. Search her beneficiary record using Aadhaar or other permitted identification details.
  4. Complete Aadhaar e-KYC, if required.
  5. Check whether her Ayushman Vay Vandana Card has been generated/activated.
  6. Find a PM-JAY empanelled hospital.
  7. Check whether the required treatment is available under the hospital's approved specialty/package.
  8. Visit the hospital's Ayushman Mitra desk before admission.
  9. Confirm the exact treatment/package and whether pre-authorisation is required.
  10. Get confirmation of cashless eligibility before starting planned treatment.

Open the official PM-JAY Hospital Search portal.

  • Select your State.
  • Select your District.
  • Select Government/Private Hospital. Select the required specialty.
  • Enter the hospital name.
  • Complete the Captcha,
  • Click Search.
  • Check that the hospital's PM-JAY empanelment is active.
  • Check Full list of empanelled hospital also acc to your district

Documents Required

Keep these documents ready :

  • Ayushman Vay Vandana Card/e-card, if already issued
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Another government-approved ID, if required
  • Mobile number linked for verification/e-KYC
  • Ration card/family ID, if applicable
  • Doctor's prescription/referral
  • Relevant medical reports
  • Previous hospital records/discharge summary, if available

PM-JAY beneficiary identification may use Aadhaar/alternative government ID and family/ration-card-related documents depending on the verification process.

Having an Ayushman Card does not mean every treatment is automatically covered. The hospital must be empanelled and the particular treatment must fall under an approved PM-JAY package.

Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
