Dear SAGAR VINAYAK KOLHE ji

We understand how frightening it can be when a person has a lung infection and the blood pressure cannot be recorded. Please treat this as an emergency and take the patient to the nearest hospital emergency department or ICU immediately.

What could be the cause?

A severe lung infection, such as pneumonia, can sometimes spread through the body and cause sepsis or septic shock. This can lead to a very low or unrecordable blood pressure. Other possible causes include severe breathing problems, dehydration, heart problems, or another serious infection.

What treatment be needed?

Treatment depends on the patient's condition and the cause. In the hospital, doctors may provide :

  • Oxygen support to improve low oxygen levels

  • Antibiotics when a bacterial infection is suspected or confirmed

  • IV fluids to support blood pressure, when appropriate

  • Medicines called vasopressors if blood pressure remains dangerously low

  • Nebulisation or other breathing treatments when required

  • Blood tests, chest X-ray or CT scan, and other tests to identify the cause

  • ICU monitoring if the patient is unstable

  • A ventilator or other breathing support if the lungs are unable to provide enough oxygen

The exact treatment cannot be decided without examining the patient. Unrecordable blood pressure can be life-threatening, especially when associated with breathing difficulty, confusion, extreme weakness, bluish lips, very low oxygen, cold/clammy skin, or reduced urine output.

Please do not wait for the blood pressure to improve on its own. Take the patient to the nearest emergency hospital immediately.

If you share the patient's city and state, we can also guide you regarding suitable hospitals for emergency treatment.

Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
