Description
I need treatment for my left hand finger got injured while working
Dear Ajay dilip vaskar ji
If your left-hand finger was injured while working, first rest the finger and avoid heavy work with that hand. You can follow these simple steps :
For swelling or blue/purple colour: Apply a cold pack wrapped in a cloth for about 15–20 minutes. Repeat every few hours during the first 24–48 hours. Do not put ice directly on the skin.
Keep the hand raised: Keep your hand slightly elevated, especially when swelling is present.
For a cut: Gently wash the wound with clean running water, apply gentle pressure with clean gauze if it is bleeding, and cover it with a clean dressing.
For pain: Rest the finger and avoid activities that increase the pain. A suitable pain medicine can be taken only if it is safe for you and according to medical advice.
Gentle movement: Once the pain and swelling start improving, slowly bend and straighten the finger within a comfortable range. Do not force the movement or exercise through severe pain.
Protect the finger: Avoid heavy lifting, gripping, or repeated work until the injury improves.
Please get the finger examined promptly if it has become blue or very dark, feels cold or numb, you cannot move it properly, the finger looks bent or deformed, there is severe swelling or pain, or the injury was caused by a strong crush or heavy object.
A deep cut, continuous bleeding, exposed bone/tendon, or loss of sensation also needs urgent medical attention. An X-ray may be needed to check for a fracture.
If the finger is becoming increasingly blue, cold, numb, or very painful, do not rely only on home remedies please visit an emergency department promptly.
Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
