Hello,
Yes. A 76-year-old is very likely eligible under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card a dedicated scheme launched in October 2024 that gives every Indian citizen aged 70 and above ₹5 lakh per year in cashless health cover, regardless of income, with no BPL or SECC eligibility test required. This is separate from and in addition to any regular family PM-JAY coverage the household may already have.
If the family is already covered under regular PM-JAY, the senior citizen additionally gets their own ₹5 lakh cover reserved just for them. Treatment can be taken cashlessly at any PM-JAY empanelled hospital for covered procedures, once the Vay Vandana Card is obtained
How to get the Vay Vandana Card
- Download the "Ayushman App" from the Google Play Store, or apply via beneficiary.nha.gov.in
- Complete e-KYC using Aadhaar (OTP, fingerprint, or iris verification)
- If already enrolled in CGHS or ECHS, you'll need to choose between that scheme and this one for hospitalization benefits
How to Check an Ayushman Empanelled Hospital
- Open the official PM-JAY Hospital Search portal.
- Select your State.
- Select your District/City.
- Select the Hospital Type like private or public.
- Select the relevant Speciality.
- Enter the Hospital Name, if you already have one in mind.
- Enter the Captcha.
- Click Search.
- Check whether the hospital is listed as currently empanelled.
- Contact the hospital's Ayushman desk and confirm that your specific treatment is covered under the applicable PM-JAY package.
Documents Required
- Ayushman Vay Vandana Card / Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY Card/e-card
- Aadhaar Card or another valid government ID
- Ration Card/family ID, if available
- Doctor's prescription or referral
- Medical reports and diagnostic reports
- Previous treatment records or discharge summaries
- Passport-size photographs, if requested by the hospital
