Description
ECHS facility available or not. And if yes tjan you can you tell the procedure for availing that facility
Hello,
Yes. ECHS (Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) provides medical treatment to eligible ECHS beneficiaries and their eligible dependants. Treatment can be taken through ECHS Polyclinics, Service Hospitals, and ECHS-empanelled civil/private hospitals. ECHS also provides indoor/outdoor treatment, investigations and medicines, subject to ECHS rules and eligibility.
How to Avail ECHS Treatment
1. Visit your ECHS Polyclinic
First, visit your parent/registered ECHS Polyclinic and consult the Medical Officer.
2. Get a referral
If the required specialist, treatment, investigation or facility is not available at the Service Hospital, the beneficiary can be referred to an ECHS-empanelled hospital. This referral is generally valid for 3 months and is not tied to a single hospital you can use it at any ECHS-empanelled hospital offering the relevant speciality.
3. Choose an empanelled hospital
You can check the ECHS website for the current list of empanelled hospitals. The ECHS website has an "Empanelled Hospital Details" facility for checking hospital status.
4. Carry your ECHS Card and referral
Take your valid ECHS Smart Card and referral document to the selected empanelled hospital. ECHS guidelines state that the Smart Card and referral form are to be produced at the hospital reception.
5. Hospital verification
The hospital will verify your ECHS details and referral and proceed with the treatment according to ECHS rules.
6. Cashless treatment
At an ECHS-empanelled hospital, treatment is generally provided on a cashless basis as per ECHS policy. If an empanelled hospital asks you to deposit cash for covered treatment, you should contact your ECHS Polyclinic or the concerned ECHS Regional Centre.
