Hello,

Yes, ECHS beneficiaries can receive kidney-related consultation, investigations, and treatment through ECHS.

Important exception for kidney emergencies : if you have acute kidney failure or need urgent dialysis, ECHS rules specifically allow direct emergency admission to any empanelled hospital  you do not need to wait for prior Polyclinic referral approval in this situation. The hospital is responsible for notifying your Polyclinic afterward. For all other, non-emergency kidney treatment (like planned nephrology/urology consultations or elective procedures), you'll need a standard referral first.

How to Check an ECHS Hospital

  1. Open the official ECHS website.
  2. Go to "Empanelled Hospital Details."
  3. Select the relevant state/region or search the hospital name.
  4. Check whether the hospital is currently ECHS empanelled and provides Urology/Nephrology.
  5. Check whether the required treatment or procedure is available.

Documents to Keep Ready

  • ECHS Smart Card
  • Aadhaar Card or other identity proof, if required
  • ECHS Polyclinic referral (unless it's a genuine emergency admission)
  • Doctor's prescription
  • Ultrasound/CT scan reports
  • Blood and urine test reports
  • Previous medical records
  • Previous discharge summary, if applicable
  • Current medicines and prescriptions

Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
