Description
I am suffering from.Ceevical and knee pain since last two years
Dear Arvind Dixit ji,
We understand how difficult it can be to live with neck and knee pain for such a long time. Since your symptoms have continued for around two years, please consult an orthopaedic doctor for a proper evaluation.
Common causes include :
Age-related changes in the neck bones and discs
Cervical spondylosis
Poor sitting or sleeping posture
Long hours using a mobile or computer
Muscle stiffness or weakness
A slipped or bulging disc
Nerve compression
If a nerve is affected, pain may travel from the neck into the shoulder or arm and may cause tingling, numbness or weakness.
Long-term knee pain can occur because of :
Knee osteoarthritis
Previous injury
Meniscus or ligament problems
Muscle weakness around the knee
Excess body weight putting additional pressure on the joint
Inflammation or other joint conditions
Treatment depends on the actual cause and severity. Your doctor recommend :
Physiotherapy and strengthening exercises
Posture correction and neck exercises
Medicines for pain or inflammation when required
Weight management if you are overweight
Knee-supporting exercises
Injections in selected knee conditions
Further treatment or knee replacement when there is severe joint damage
An X-ray may be advised for the knee and neck. An MRI may be needed when there are signs of nerve compression, severe symptoms or another specific concern.
Avoid sitting in the same position for long periods.
Keep your computer or mobile screen at a comfortable eye level.
Use a supportive pillow and avoid sleeping in an awkward neck position.
Do gentle exercises recommended by your physiotherapist.
Avoid sudden heavy lifting.
For knee pain, avoid repeated squatting, climbing too many stairs and activities that clearly increase pain.
Maintain a healthy weight and eat a balanced diet.
Do not take painkillers regularly without medical advice.
Seek medical attention quickly if you develop sudden weakness or numbness in an arm or leg, difficulty walking, loss of bladder or bowel control, severe swelling/redness of the knee, fever, or severe pain after an injury.
With pain lasting two years, a proper examination and treatment plan can help you manage the condition and improve your movement and daily activities.
Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
