Knee joint problem like paint not folding and problem
Hello,
We understand that knee pain and difficulty bending the knee can make walking, sitting, climbing stairs and doing daily activities very uncomfortable. Please don't ignore it, especially if the knee is becoming increasingly stiff or painful.
Knee pain and difficulty folding the knee can happen due to:
Knee arthritis or wear and tear of the joint
Previous knee injury or accident
Meniscus or ligament injury
Swelling or inflammation inside the joint
Muscle weakness around the knee
Excess weight putting extra pressure on the joint
Gout or other inflammatory joint conditions
Joint stiffness after a previous operation or prolonged rest
Treatment depends on the actual cause and severity. A doctor may recommend:
Pain-relieving medicines when appropriate
Physiotherapy to improve knee movement and muscle strength
Exercises for the thigh and knee muscles
Weight management if excess weight is contributing to the problem
Medicines or injections for certain inflammatory conditions
Further treatment or joint replacement in severe arthritis when the joint is badly damaged and other treatments are not helping
An X-ray or other scan may be advised if the doctor suspects arthritis, an injury or internal joint damage.
Avoid activities that sharply increase your knee pain.
Do not sit in a deep squat or cross-legged position for long periods if it worsens your symptoms.
Use an ice pack for about 15–20 minutes when the knee is swollen or painful.
Gentle warmth may help stiffness when there is no significant swelling.
Maintain a healthy weight to reduce pressure on the knee.
Wear comfortable, supportive footwear.
Do not take painkillers regularly without medical advice, especially if you have kidney, stomach, heart or other health problems.
Start slowly and stop if you develop significant pain or swelling.
1. Heel Slides
Lie on your back and slowly slide your heel towards your body, bending the knee as much as comfortable. Then slowly straighten it. Repeat 5–10 times.
2. Quadriceps Tightening
Keep your leg straight and tighten the thigh muscle by pressing the back of your knee gently towards the bed or floor. Hold for about 5 seconds and relax. Repeat 10 times.
3. Straight Leg Raise
Lie down with one leg bent and the painful leg straight. Tighten the thigh and slowly lift the straight leg a few inches. Lower it slowly. Repeat 5–10 times if comfortable.
4. Gentle Knee Stretch
Sit on a chair and slowly straighten the affected leg. Hold briefly and bring it back down. Repeat 5–10 times.
Do not force the knee to bend if it feels locked or causes sharp pain.
Get medical attention promptly if the knee is severely swollen, red or hot, you cannot put weight on the leg, the knee suddenly becomes locked, there was a significant injury, or you have fever along with knee swelling.
Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
