Hello,

Yes, ECHS beneficiaries can avail General Surgery, MRI, CT scan and other medically required investigations at ECHS-empanelled hospitals.

How to Check an ECHS Hospital or Diagnostic Centre?

  1. Visit the official ECHS website.

  2. Check the section for “Empanelled Hospital Details”.

  3. Search the hospital or diagnostic centre according to your city/station.

  4. Confirm that the hospital has an active ECHS empanelment.

  5. Check whether the hospital has the required General Surgery facility.

  6. For MRI or CT scan, confirm that the particular diagnostic centre/hospital is empanelled for the required investigation.

  7. You can also confirm the current empanelment status with your ECHS Polyclinic before taking treatment. ECHS advises beneficiaries to verify hospital status through the ECHS website or the concerned Polyclinic.

What Is the ECHS Referral Process?

For planned treatment, you generally need to visit your ECHS Polyclinic first. If the required specialist, surgery or diagnostic facility is not available there, the beneficiary can be referred to an empanelled hospital or diagnostic centre.

For MRI and CT scans, the referral/prescription should clearly mention the investigation when required. ECHS has also clarified that beneficiaries aged 70 years and above can directly avail listed investigations such as CT and MRI at empanelled hospitals under the specified conditions, without a separate Polyclinic referral.

Documents Required

Carry the following documents

  • ECHS Smart Card

  • Photocopy of the ECHS Smart Card

  • ECHS referral form, wherever required

  • Doctor's prescription

  • Previous medical reports

  • Previous CT/MRI/X-ray reports, if available

  • Relevant blood investigation reports

  • Any previous discharge summary or treatment records

The ECHS brochure specifically states that the ECHS Smart Card with photocopy and referral form should be produced at the empanelled hospital reception for availing treatment.
