Is eye surgery covered under the Ayushman Bharat card?

Yes. Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY covers several eye treatments at empanelled hospitals.

However, not every eye operation or procedure is automatically covered. LASIK for removing spectacle power is not covered under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. LASIK is generally considered a refractive/corrective procedure rather than a covered hospitalisation package. PM-JAY also excludes cosmetic treatments and outpatient care.

Steps to Check an Hospital Under Ayushman

1. Open the official PM-JAY Hospital Empanelment/Search facility.

2. Select your State.

3. Select your District.

4. Choose Government or Private Hospital.

5. Select the Ophthalmology/Eye speciality.

6. Enter the hospital name, if you have a particular hospital in mind.

7. Complete the captcha, if displayed.

8. Click Search.

9. Check whether the hospital is currently empanelled for eye treatment.

10. You can also check the overall list of empanelled hospital in your district.

Documents to Carry

Keep these documents ready :

• Ayushman Card/e-card

• Aadhaar or another valid government ID

• Ration card, if available

• Doctor's prescription/referral

• Eye examination reports

• Previous medical reports and scans, if any

• Previous treatment/discharge documents, if applicable

• Current medicines/prescriptions
