Dear MULLAPALLY MAJEED ji
Yes, colonoscopy is covered under the Ayushman Card.
A standalone outpatient department (OPD) colonoscopy without hospital admission is not covered.
A colonoscopy is a test in which a doctor uses a thin camera to examine the inside of the large intestine (colon). It may be advised for problems such as blood in the stool, unexplained bowel changes, persistent abdominal symptoms, or suspected intestinal disease.
Open the official PM-JAY Hospital Search portal.
Select your State.
Select your District.
First check the overall PM-JAY empanelled hospital list for your district.
Select Government or Private hospital, as applicable.
Look for the relevant specialty, such as Gastroenterology or General Surgery.
Search for the exact hospital name.
Enter the captcha, if shown.
Check that the hospital has active PM-JAY empanelment and the relevant treatment package.
Visit the hospital's Ayushman Mitra/PM-JAY desk with your doctor's advice and ask them to confirm:
whether the colonoscopy is covered for your condition
whether it will be cashless
whether pre-authorisation is required
whether biopsy or any additional procedure, if needed, is covered separately
PM-JAY hospitals have a designated process for beneficiary verification and cashless treatment.
Ayushman Card
Aadhaar card or another valid government ID
Doctor's prescription or referral for colonoscopy
Previous medical reports
Blood and stool test reports, if available
Previous ultrasound, CT or other scan reports
Previous prescriptions and medical records
Previous admission/discharge papers, if any
The doctor will usually give you instructions for bowel preparation so that the colon is clean before the test. Follow the hospital's preparation instructions carefully. Tell the doctor about any medicines you take, especially blood thinners, and about any medical conditions before starting the preparation.
If you have heavy bleeding from the rectum, severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, fainting, black stools, or severe weakness, seek urgent medical care rather than waiting for a routine colonoscopy appointment.
Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
