What is Morpheus8?

Your skin can lose elasticity with age, causing lines, wrinkles, and sagging. Blame it on the stressful life, unhealthy diet and pollution that these ageing signs have become more rapid than ever. But the good news is that there is a safe, non-surgical way of treating these ageing signs. Morpheus8, a micro-needling device, utilises radiofrequency technology to give your neck, face, and body a youthful appearance. In addition to skin tightening and lifting, Morpheus8 is an FDA approved Subdermal Adipose Remodelling Device (SARD) to reduce fat in delicate areas.

How is Morpheus8 Different From Other Micro-needling Treatments?

The doctor moves a small needle-clad applicator across your skin in a standard micro-needling treatment. The needles in the applicator reach a depth of approximately 2mm. However, in Morpheus8, the needles reach a depth of 4mm, stimulating changes within the skin’s foundational structure. Furthermore, unlike other micro-needling treatments, Morpheus8 has radiofrequency technology that gently heats subdermal adipose tissue for a more deep toning and tightening of the skin.

How is Morpheus8 performed?

The Morpheus8 treatment typically follows these steps:-

  1. Your doctor will use topical numbing cream on the treatment area to limit the discomfort.
  2. He/she will press a handheld device into the area, allowing microneedles to perforate your skin.
  3. Once in place, the microneedles will emit radiofrequency waves.
  4. The heat from these waves will penetrate deep into the dermal skin layer, tightening the skin and correcting the fat.
  5. The complete procedure does not take more than two hours.
  6. Depending on the extent of improvement desired, you may need two to four treatment sessions.

What Can You Expect Before Morpheus8?

  1. Your doctor will review your medical history to ensure you are suitable for the procedure.
  2. He/she will examine the areas to be treated.
  3. To avoid bruising and swelling, you will be asked to stop taking NSAIDs such as aspirin, naproxen, and ibuprofen one week before the treatment.
  4. You should avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before the procedure.
  5. Your doctor may prescribe certain medications to minimise the risk of bruising.
  6. Avoid any irritant type topical products such as retinol, vitamin C, alpha-hydroxy acids, and beta hydroxy acids three days before the treatment.
  7. Discontinue smoking and consuming alcohol two days prior to the treatment.
  8. The doctor will explain the procedure and home-care tips to be followed after the procedure.

What Can You Expect on the Day of the Morpheus8?

  1. On the day of the treatment, shower as usual.
  2. Do not apply lotion, cream, powder, or oil to the treatment area.
  3. Cleanse your face and neck but do not apply makeup.
  4. Tie your hair with a hairband.

What Can You Expect During the Morpheus8?

  1. In your doctor’s office, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area and left for 45 to 60 minutes to minimise discomfort.
  2. There is no need for IV line administration and anaesthesia in the procedure.
  3. The doctor will perform the procedure.
  4. As it is an outpatient treatment, you can go home the same day.

What is Recovery and Post Op Care After Morpheus8?

  1. Immediately after the procedure, you may feel like your skin has a moderate sunburn.
