Dear Thenmozhi ji,

First, we want you to know something important: fibroids are very common in women your age, and treatment works well. Please don't let the worry about money add to the stress you're already feeling from the pain.

Yes, it can likely be covered but we can't promise 100% without seeing your exact policy. Insurance coverage depends on a few specific things about your policy, not a general rule that applies to everyone.

Your policy documents show that hysterectomy (removing the uterus) and myomectomy (removing just the fibroid) can have specific waiting-period rules attached to them. So whether you're covered and how much depends on things like your policy's start date, whether this fibroid was already known about before you bought the policy, and your total sum insured

What Should You Check Before the Operation?

  1. Find your United India Insurance policy name and policy number.
  2. Check the date your policy first started.
  3. Think back was your fibroid or uterus problem already found by a doctor before you bought this policy? This matters a lot for waiting-period rules.
  4. Check your policy's waiting period specifically for fibroids, myomectomy, or hysterectomy.
  5. Check your available sum insured (the total amount your policy can pay out).
  6. Check whether the hospital you want to go to is a "network hospital" for United India Insurance or its TPA (third-party administrator).
  7. Ask the hospital's insurance desk whether cashless treatment is possible there.
  8. Give them your ultrasound/MRI reports and your doctor's prescription.
  9. Ask the hospital to get cashless pre-authorisation from the insurance company before you're admitted this is important, don't skip it.
  10. Before admission, ask for written confirmation of exactly how much is approved, and whether you'll need to pay anything extra yourself.

Documents You Should Keep Ready

  • Your United India Insurance health card and policy details
  • Aadhaar or other ID proof
  • Doctor's prescription
  • Ultrasound/sonography report
  • MRI/CT report, if advised
  • Blood test reports
  • Previous medical records
  • Previous treatment papers
  • Previous hospital discharge summary, if any
  • Your doctor's written recommendation for myomectomy or hysterectomy

Having health insurance doesn't automatically mean the entire cost is covered. Things like the waiting period, exclusions, your sum insured, room-rent limits, and whether the hospital is in-network can all affect how much the insurer actually pays. Your specific policy wording is what matters here, not a general rule so please don't guess.

Please take your policy document and your medical reports to the hospital's insurance desk before scheduling your operation.

Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
