Cervical spondylosis can cause neck pain, stiffness and headaches that may start from the back of the neck. Treatment depends on the severity of symptoms and whether a nerve or the spinal cord is being compressed. 

Treatment options

• Medicines: A doctor recommend pain-relieving medicines or other medicines depending on your symptoms and medical history.

• Physiotherapy: Gentle neck exercises, stretching and strengthening can help improve movement and reduce pain. 

• Posture and daily activities: Avoid keeping your neck in the same position for long periods. A suitable pillow and proper sitting posture may also help.

• Heat or cold therapy: Applying a heat or cold pack may provide temporary relief from neck pain.

• Further treatment: If pain continues despite conservative treatment, a specialist may consider other options such as targeted injections or pain-management treatment in selected cases.

• Surgery: Surgery is generally considered when cervical spondylosis is causing significant nerve compression (radiculopathy) or spinal cord compression (myelopathy), rather than for ordinary neck pain alone.
