Jaundice with fever pain abdomen and body weekness 10days
Medical Content and Care Team
Hello,
Jaundice with fever, abdominal pain and weakness for 10 days should be evaluated by a doctor, preferably a physician or gastroenterologist. The treatment depends on the exact cause, so medicines should not be started without a proper diagnosis.
The doctor may advise blood tests such as liver function tests, bilirubin, CBC and hepatitis tests. An ultrasound of the abdomen may also be needed to check the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. Further tests may be advised depending on the results.
If the jaundice is due to a viral infection such as hepatitis, treatment and monitoring depend on the type of hepatitis.
If there is a gallstone or blockage in the bile duct, the doctor may recommend medicines or a procedure to remove the blockage.
If there is an infection, the doctor may prescribe appropriate treatment such as antibiotics when required.
If the liver is affected by a medicine, alcohol or another condition, that cause needs to be treated.
There is no single medicine that can safely treat all types of jaundice.
Drink enough water and other fluids unless your doctor has restricted fluids.
Eat light, easily digestible meals and take small meals if your appetite is low.
Avoid alcohol completely.
Avoid oily, very fatty and heavy foods if they increase your abdominal discomfort.
Do not take painkillers, antibiotics, herbal medicines or liver supplements on your own. Some medicines can affect the liver.
Take only medicines prescribed by your doctor.
Take adequate rest and avoid strenuous physical activity while feeling weak.
Continue any prescribed treatment and follow-up blood tests as advised.
Seek urgent medical care if you develop severe or increasing abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, very high fever or chills, increasing yellowing, confusion or unusual sleepiness, fainting, difficulty breathing, very dark urine with worsening symptoms, blood in vomit or stool, or inability to drink fluids.
Fever with jaundice and abdominal pain can sometimes indicate a serious infection or blockage involving the bile ducts or gallbladder and should not be ignored.
Please arrange a medical evaluation rather than waiting for the jaundice to settle on its own.
Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
Team HexaHealth
