Hello,

A platelet count of 8,000–9,000 is critically low and can increase the risk of serious bleeding. Please take your mother to a hospital emergency department immediately. Do not delay her treatment while completing Ayushman card formalities.

Can Your Mother Get Cashless Treatment Under Your Father's PM-JAY Card?

Your mother may receive cashless treatment under PM-JAY if she is an eligible beneficiary and her name is registered in the scheme's records. Your father's approved card does not automatically mean that your mother's name is also registered. Her eligibility must be checked separately.

PM-JAY provides eligible families with cashless hospitalisation coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for covered treatments at empanelled hospitals, subject to the scheme's rules and applicable packages.

Step 1: Check Whether Your Mother's Name Is Already Listed.

Take your mother to a PM-JAY-empanelled hospital and ask the Ayushman Mitra help desk to search for her name in the beneficiary database.

Carry your father's PM-JAY card, your mother's Aadhaar card and your family ration card or Family ID, if available.

Online: You can also check through the official Ayushman Bharat Beneficiary Portal.

  1. Open the official beneficiary portal.
  2. Log in using the available mobile number and OTP.
  3. Select the relevant state and enter the requested details.
  4. Search for the family using the available identification options.
  5. Check whether your mother's name appears in the family beneficiary list.
  6. If her name appears but verification or card generation is pending, ask the Ayushman Mitra about the required verification process and whether she can receive treatment under the scheme.

Step 2: What If Your Mother's Name Is Not Listed?

If your mother's name is missing from the family list, ask the Ayushman Mitra or the relevant state scheme authority whether she can be added under the applicable rules. Adding a family member requires eligibility checks and verification. Do not assume that a new member can be added immediately or that submitting a request guarantees cashless treatment.

Ask the help desk which documents are required to establish her relationship with your father and whether any additional approval is needed.

Which Documents Should You Carry?

  • Your father's PM-JAY card or beneficiary details.
  • Your mother's Aadhaar card or another accepted identity document.
  • Family ration card or Family ID showing both parents' names, if available.
  • Your mother's latest platelet count report and other medical reports.
  • Previous prescriptions and medical records.
  • Any additional documents requested by the hospital's Ayushman Mitra.

Step 3: Check the Alternative Option for Women Aged 70 or Older.

If your mother is aged 70 years or above, she may be eligible for coverage under the Ayushman Vay Vandana scheme for senior citizens, subject to the applicable enrolment rules. Ask the hospital help desk or check the official beneficiary portal for guidance. Do not delay emergency treatment while completing enrolment.

What Should You Do Right Now?

  1. Take your mother to the nearest suitable hospital emergency department immediately because her platelet count is critically low.
  2. Inform the treating doctor about her platelet count of 8,000–9,000 and show the latest blood report.
  3. While she receives medical attention, ask the Ayushman Mitra to check her eligibility and whether the required treatment is covered under PM-JAY.

Please do not wait for card approval before seeking medical care. The doctors must assess and treat your mother's condition urgently.

Wishing you and your family good health always.
Warm regards,
