Dear Sweta Singh ji

No. An ABHA Card cannot be used to get your hand plate removal treatment.

In Ayushman Card cover hand plate removal treatment.

ABHA stands for Ayushman Bharat Health Account. It is a digital health account that helps you access, store and share your health records. It does not provide ₹5 lakh health insurance coverage and does not pay your hospital treatment bills.

What about an Ayushman Card?

If you are eligible for Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and have a valid Ayushman Card, then your hand plate removal be covered.

The official PM-JAY package list specifically includes:

  • Implant removal under Regional/General Anaesthesia (RA/GA)

  • Plate removal – Package Code SB071B

So, for a plate implanted after a hand fracture, you can ask an empanelled PM-JAY hospital to check the procedure under the applicable orthopaedic package.

The hospital must confirm that the procedure is approved for you under PM-JAY before admission. Do not assume that having an Ayushman Card automatically covers every hospital expense.

ABHA vs Ayushman Card

ABHA Card Ayushman Card
Digital health account Health assurance benefit under PM-JAY
Helps manage/share health records Used for eligible covered treatment
Does not pay hospital bills Can provide cashless treatment for covered packages

Not an insurance/health cover card Used at eligible empanelled hospitals
