Description
Gall bladder multiple stone removal (6 to 9mm size) laproscopy surgery.
Dear Aadesh Sharma Ji
Multiple gallbladder stones measuring around 6–9 mm can often be treated with laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, especially when they are causing symptoms or complications. The exact treatment depends on the number and location of stones, symptoms, gallbladder condition, and whether any stone has entered the bile duct.
Gallstones are hardened deposits that form inside the gallbladder. Multiple stones can remain without symptoms, but they may sometimes cause
Pain in the upper right or upper middle abdomen
Pain after eating fatty or heavy meals
Nausea or vomiting
Bloating or indigestion
Pain spreading toward the back or right shoulder
Fever or chills if infection develops
Yellowing of the eyes or skin if bile flow is blocked
When gallstones are symptomatic or causing complications, doctors commonly consider laparoscopic cholecystectomy. In this procedure, the surgeon makes small incisions and removes the gallbladder containing the stones, rather than simply taking out individual stones.
The 6–9 mm stone size alone does not determine whether surgery is required. Your surgeon will also check whether the stones are inside the gallbladder or have moved into the common bile duct.
The surgeon may recommend investigations such as
Ultrasound abdomen
Liver function tests
Complete blood count
Kidney function tests
Blood sugar and other routine tests
MRCP or other imaging if a bile-duct stone is suspected
The final surgical plan is decided after reviewing these findings.
Laparoscopic surgery generally involves smaller incisions than open surgery. Recovery varies between patients, but many people can gradually return to normal activities after the procedure as advised by their surgeon.
Follow the prescribed diet and medication instructions after surgery. Seek medical attention for severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, fever, increasing jaundice, or redness/discharge from the surgical wounds.
