Dr. Atul Mathur

Dr Atul Mathur is a renowned Interventional Cardiologist in Delhi. He is currently associated as a Executive Director with Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Okhla.

With 42 years of experience, he has previously worked at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

He is also the first Indian doctor to receive a U.S. patent for a medical device used in carotid artery stenting.

He performed one of India’s earliest carotid stenting procedures in 1999. Since then, he has introduced several advanced interventional techniques in the country.

• Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from Centre Hospitalier Universitaire De Rouen, France in 1996
• Certification Course in Advanced Angioplasty from Shri Jai Deva Institute of Cardiology, Bangalore in 1996
  

His academic contributions include several hundred research papers published across reputed national and international journals.

He has actively attended the Live Demonstration Course on Interventional Cardiology at Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Rouen, France from 13–25 October 1996.

He is an active member of:

• Indian Council for Carotid Interventions (ICCI)
• Cardiovascular Therapeutics India (CTI)
• Global Advisory Board for Resolute Endeavour Program (GABREP)
• Cardiological Society of India (CSI)

During his academic years at SMS Medical College, Jaipur, he earned multiple gold medals, including:

• Highest score in Internal Medicine in 1983
• Second highest aggregate in MBBS in 1983
• Best All-Round Student of the Institution in 1982
• Highest score in Pharmacology in 1981
