He has served as Principal Investigator in key research projects including:

• Long-term effects of aggressive nutritional therapy on survival in patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis – A randomized controlled trial
• Role of hypertonic saline versus mannitol in the management of raised intracranial pressure in patients with acute liver failure – A randomized open-label study

Dr Chetan Kalal is also recognised as the First DM Hepatologist in Maharashtra and is regarded as one of the best hepatologists in South Mumbai and Girgaon.
