He currently serves as Urology Robotic Surgical Lead and a Professor in the Department of Urology at King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. He is widely recognized for his expertise in robotic urology, minimally invasive urologic oncology, pediatric urology and advanced renal transplantation. To date, his clinical career spans over 10,000 surgical procedures, and his research profile includes over 100 scientific publications with more than 11,000 citations on his Google Scholar Profile.[1][2] For his advanced contributions to the medical field, he has been honored as a Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS), India. He was also a prominent co-author and sub-investigator (Co/Sub) for two landmark research studies that won the IJU Second Prize for best paper award at 2017 USI Annual Meet and USI CKP Menon Best Paper First Prize Award at the Abstracts - USICON 2017 presented by the Urological Society of India (USI). Since 2009, Singh has been a key figure in medical education at KGMU, mentoring hundreds of Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) residents. He is credited with pioneering affordable, pay-per-use robotic surgical care within the public healthcare sector in North India. Education and training Singh completed his undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-speciality medical education at premier Indian medical institutions: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): Completed his foundational medical graduation from prestigious the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Master of Surgery (MS): Earned his postgraduate degree in general surgery from prestigious the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Magister Chirurgiae (MCh) in Urology: Obtained his super-speciality surgical degree from the Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Charitable Hospital (Nair Mumbai). Diplomate of National Board (DNB): Earned his DNB certification in Urology from the National Board of Examinations. He expanded his surgical expertise globally through prestigious international fellowships, clinical appointments, and institutional visitations: United Kingdom: Practiced as an young staff surgeon at the Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey. During his tenure in the UK, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS) and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS) (Uro). United States: Selected for the prestigious Indian American Urological Association (IAUA) Chakrobortty Fellowship in 2013.[3] As an Indian urology faculty member, he completed a specialized pediatric urology Clinical observership at the Division of Pediatric Urology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He additionally undertook visitations at the USC keck Institute of Urology University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, and the Vattikuti Urology Institute at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Japan: Awarded the Japanese Urological Association (JUA) International Exchange Foundation Fellowship as a young academic faculty. Under this program, he completed an intensive Clinical observership at the Department of Urology, University of Miyazaki, training under Prof. Toshiyuki Kamoto. His training centered around advanced laparoscopy—including radical cystectomies and partial nephrectomies—alongside advanced endourological procedures such as HoLEP and flexible ureterorenoscopy (FURS). Career and academic contributions In 2009, Singh joined the faculty of King George's Medical University. Alongside his active surgical practice, he serves as an academic mentor. He has trained hundreds of post-doctoral MCh urology residents in complex urological interventions. As a prominent clinical researcher, Singh has authored and co-authored over 100 scientific papers published across major national and international peer-reviewed journals, recording over 11,000 academic citations with an h-index of 48 according to his official Google Scholar Profile. His research spans Robotic urology, laparoscopic urology, medical lasers, and renal transplant outcomes. In 2017, Singh achieved rare academic distinction by serving as a core co-author and sub-investigator (Co/Sub) for trials that secured the First Prize honors at national IJU best paper Award and Second Prize honors at the national USI Best Paper Awards: First Prize (CKP Menon Best Paper Award, USI Abstracts - USICON 2017 ): This multi-center trial focused on restructuring percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) endourological training. By implementing a stepwise case selection protocol structured around the Guy's stone score (GSS), the trial proved that matching trainee progression to stone complexity minimizes fluoroscopy exposure and scales down Clavien-Dindo complications during the PCNL learning curve.[4] Second Prize (Best Papers Award, IJU Awards 2017 at USI Annual Meet): He served as the sub-investigator for a landmark prospective trial titled "Are there any factors affecting the outcome of endoscopic sclerotherapy in filarial chyluria? A prospective study". The study evaluated the clinical safety and long-term success metrics of instillation therapies (comparing silver nitrate vs. povidone-iodine). It successfully mapped out that higher clinical disease grades, a greater volume of baseline urinary triglyceride or cholesterol loss, and higher quantities of pre-treatment drug courses act as major statistically independent predictors of recurrence following pelvic sclerotherapy.[5] Robotic surgery and clinical leadership Singh played a central role in modernizing the surgical infrastructure at KGMU by introducing the DaVinci Xi surgical system. This dual-console DaVinci Xi setup represents the gold standard in modern robotic-assisted laparoscopy. Singh’s team successfully executed the institution's very first robotic urological procedure using this system. To bridge the gap in accessible healthcare, Singh helped implement an institutional low-cost, pay-per-use model at kgmu for advanced robotic operations. This system effectively allows socioeconomically disadvantaged patients at KGMU to access highly precise cancer and reconstructive surgeries at a fraction of the cost typically charged by private healthcare institutions.[6] A media feature published by News Nation highlighted Singh’s clinical leadership, praising his team's commitment to delivering patient-centric, ethical, and compassionate urological care. The profile specifically commended the department's ability to balance technical surgical competence with public-sector affordability, highlighting successful management of complex cases such as renal masses within a highly demanding institutional environment.[7] Professional memberships and recognition First Prize Recipient of the CKP Menon Best Paper Award (2017), Urological Society of India at Abstracts - USICON 2017 Meet as (Co/Sub Role) Second Prize Recipient of the IJU 2017 Best Papers Award at Annual USI Meet (2017) as (Co/Sub Role) Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS), India Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS) Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of glasgow (FRCS Urology) Member of the Indian American Urological Association (IAUA) Recipient of the JUA International Exchange Foundation Fellowship Recipient of the IAUA Chakraborty Fellowship
