Extremely disappointed - Would never recommendWe visited Dr. Gaurav Gupta for a second opinion regarding ongoing cancer treatment. While he claims to be the most senior chemotherapy expert in Uttar Pradesh, our experience was far from reassuring or professional.From the start, he was dismissive, rude, and extremely condescending. When we mentioned that my mother is following a ketogenic diet, which has been explored in many studies and followed by patients worldwide as a complementary approach and with successful results, he mockingly said, "Ye sab faltu hai, toh phir mitti kha lo."We also asked about a serious adverse reaction my mother had to Lipodox, including facial swelling, dangerously high BP (189/140), severe spine and neck pain, she told us her heart felt like stopping, we all witnessed her in pain, and he said- “So what? Toh kya hua.These things happen. You should have given a higher dose. Zyda high dose deni thi next time sahi ho jata" I mean saying such things to someone who witnessed their mother in that condition. Disgusting.Even more concerning, when we told him we're currently receiving treatment at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute (where he himself used to work), he outright refused to discuss it, saying, "I don't want to talk about Lohia." That’s incredibly unprofessional.He also wrongly claimed that chemotherapy was a bad decision and surgery should have been done first, completely ignoring that surgery in cases of metastatic adenocarcinoma is not the standard protocol and even the surgical oncologist treating my mother had explained why chemo was the appropriate first step.For a senior doctor, we expected thoughtful insights and a collaborative, evidence-based discussion, not sarcasm, ego, or outdated views. Patients and families deserve respect and support, not ridicule. But I guess for some doctors money is all that matters and since they are already have some reputation, they think being arrogant is not a big deal. I mean if a patient can't ask their doubt without the doctor getting offended, why be a doctor in the first place.Please be cautious and consider other more empathetic and updated oncologists for second opinions.
