• Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons England in 1993
• Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow in 1994
• MCh in Orthopaedics from the University of Liverpool in 1995

He has undergone advanced training in cartilage repair and regeneration in the United States and has visited leading centres of regenerative medicine in the US.

He has extensive experience in performing orthobiologic surgery and PRP procedures for the hip, knee and shoulder.

Many of these specialised procedures are currently performed exclusively in Chennai under his supervision.

Dr Venkatachalam is also known for introducing innovative treatments such as SVF and PRS injections for knee osteoarthritis and for handling complex knee, hip and shoulder surgeries.

He is an active member of the:
