Sri Venkateshwara Nethralaya (SVN) is a dedicated eye hospital in Bangalore, established in 2004 by Dr Saravana Kodandapani (MD, AIIMS) and Dr Sukanya S (MBBS, DO, FIMSA, MBA in Healthcare Services). Now in its 22nd year, SVN has grown from a single centre in Rajarajeshwarinagar to three fully equipped locations across South West Bangalore and Ramanagara, serving patients from the city and over 150 surrounding villages.
SVN provides complete eye care under one roof, from routine eye check-ups and spectacle prescriptions to advanced cataract surgery by phacoemulsification, LASIK laser treatment for glass removal, vitreoretinal surgery for retinal conditions, glaucoma diagnosis and management, diabetic eye disease treatment, and contact lens fitting (soft, RGP, scleral).
The hospital is the only centre in South West Bangalore offering in-house LASIK, vitreoretinal surgery, and advanced phacoemulsification cataract surgery all at one location. SVN was also the first centre to implant the Carl Zeiss MF4 Multifocal IOL in Karnataka and the first to install the Nidek Excimer Laser for LASIK treatments imported from Japan.
The hospital is equipped with world-class diagnostic and surgical technology including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Topcon Fundus Imaging and Fluorescein Angiography, non-contact tonometry, computerised perimetry for early glaucoma detection, ophthalmic ultrasound, and a fully equipped day-care surgical suite with operating microscope, video recording, and the Alcon phacoemulsification system. Vitreoretinal surgeries including 23-gauge sutureless procedures are performed in-house.
