Dr. Sonali Bhagwat

Dr Sonali Bhagwat is a Senior Consultant in the Department of General, G.I. and Minimal Access Surgery at Gleneagles Global Hospital, Parel, Mumbai. She is also a guide for the Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery (FMAS) from MUHS and an examiner for FMAS.

With 23 years of experience, she has contributed to handling numerous complex medical cases. She previously worked as an Associate Professor in Surgery at T. N. Medical College & B. Y. L. Nair Ch. Hospital, Mumbai, and a Lecturer in Surgery at K.J. Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai. She runs the Comprehensive Breast Health Service at Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai.

Dr Sonali earned her MBBS degree from University Of Bombay in 1994. Then, in 1997, she completed MS in General Surgery from Grand Medical College & Sir J.J Group of Hospitals, Mumbai. She then did FRCS.

Dr Bhagwant, a general surgery and minimal access surgery specialist, is a member of the Indian Association of Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and the Association of Surgeons of India. 

She was awarded the University of Mumbai Gold Medal for securing first place in Surgery in the final MBBS examination in 1992 and ranked first in college at the MS examination in 1997.

Dr Bhagwat has delivered numerous scientific presentations at national, regional, and international conferences. She has several publications in both international and national journals. In the Indian Journal of Gastroenterology, she published a paper titled "Port-site infection with Mycobacterium chelone following laparoscopic appendicectomy". She has more papers, including "Evaluation of clinical skills for first-year surgical residents using orientation programme and objective structured clinical evaluation as a tool of assessment"
