Our experience with Dr. P. Giri during my father’s CKD treatment was deeply disappointing and distressing. When we first consulted him, he was positive and assured us that my father could be managed with medication alone, and dialysis wouldn’t be necessary. Unfortunately, from the very beginning of the treatment, my father began experiencing new symptoms that he had never shown before. At the one-month follow-up (which we attended two days early), Dr. Giri told us that my father was improving and doing well on the prescribed medication. However, just a month later, my father had a sudden, severe breathing issue. On our way to seek a routine checkup, the issue escalated, and we had to take him to the nearest government hospital for first aid. We contacted Dr. Giri’s clinic, only to be met with unprofessional and vague responses. Eventually, we were asked to admit him to Trichy Gastro Care Hospital. My father was placed in the ICU, and the attending doctor explained the cause—fluid buildup—in a calm, professional manner. Later that day, Dr. Giri visited and spoke to us in a way that was shockingly cold and unempathetic. Instead of explaining the seriousness of the situation with compassion, he bluntly told us that my father had suffered a massive attack and that he wouldn’t survive the day. He added that even if we moved him to another hospital, he wouldn’t make it. The way this news was delivered left us emotionally devastated and completely broke our trust in him as a medical professional. We decided to shift my father to a multi-speciality hospital the same day. There, he received thorough and compassionate care and showed significant improvement within two days. He was eventually discharged in a stable condition. Upon several opinions from different doctors, everyone provided the same response through which we learned that some of the medications prescribed by Dr. Giri were outdated and one particular tablet meant for heart issues should never have been given to a CKD patient—it may have worsened his condition. While Dr. Giri may have a good reputation with other patients, our experience revealed a lack of empathy, poor communication, and what appears to be a serious lapse in appropriate care. No matter how experienced a doctor is, such negligence and insensitivity toward even one patient’s life cannot be ignored.
