Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation

He has performed over 700 TAVI procedures, representing the highest volume in India, to replace narrowed aortic valves through a minimally invasive catheter approach without open-heart surgery.

Dr Ravinder Rao also performed the first procedure in India using an Indian-manufactured valve and the first transcatheter double valve replacement in the country.

MitraClip and Heart Valve Repair

Dr Ravinder carried out the first MitraClip procedure in India following regulatory approval, using a catheter-guided clip to treat severe mitral valve leakage without open surgery.

He also performs catheter-based corrections to seal paravalvular leaks around previously implanted prosthetic heart valves.

Complex Coronary Interventions and Support

He carries out high-risk angioplasties for severely calcified coronary arteries using rotational atherectomy to clear rigid blockages.

Dr Rao also uses Impella mechanical heart pump support during complex interventions and performs stenting for diseased peripheral and carotid arteries.

Structural Heart and Defect Closures

Dr Ravinder specialises in transcatheter device closures for congenital heart defects, including atrial septal defects, ventricular septal defects, and patent ductus arteriosus.

He also performs valve-in-valve procedures for failing bioprosthetic valves and left atrial appendage closures to minimise stroke risk.
