Dr B Bhaskar Rao is a legendary Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon in Hyderabad with 44 years of experience. He is currently associated as a Managing Director and Senior Consultant with KIMS Hospital, Kondapur.

Dr Rao, after finishing his MBBS from Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada, Andhra University in 1982, undertook his:

• MS in General Surgery from Madras Medical College, Chennai, Madras University, India in 1984
  
• DNB in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery from National Board of Examinations, New Delhi in 1987

He established Mahaveer Cardio Vascular Centre in Hyderabad in 1996 with a strong focus on delivering high quality cardiac care at nominal cost.

He also founded Bollineni Hospital in Nellore, which became a major multispecialty referral centre in the region, and Bollineni Heart Centre in Rajahmundry, a dedicated cardiothoracic centre equipped with modern facilities.

Dr Rao played a vital role in establishing Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in 2004, which later grew into one of South India’s largest healthcare facilities with advanced infrastructure and international standards of treatment.

Under his leadership, KIMS Secunderabad became an ISO 9001 2000 certified institution and received NABH and NABL accreditations.

He also established KIMS Wardhak Diagnostic Centre in Kabul, Afghanistan, which provided advanced diagnostic services with telemedicine support from India.

He was instrumental in designing and implementing the Rajiv Gandhi Aarogyasri Community Health Insurance Scheme launched in Andhra Pradesh in 2006.

This landmark scheme provided advanced medical treatment to economically weaker sections through a public private partnership model and later inspired similar healthcare schemes across India.

Through Bollineni Krishnaiah Charitable Trust, he established the first Nursing School in Nellore in 2002 and later founded Nursing and Physiotherapy Colleges in Hyderabad to promote healthcare education and community welfare.

He is also an active member of:

Dr B Bhaskar was honoured with the Times Healthcare Achievers Award 2017 – Lifetime Achiever of the Year in Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery.
