Dr. Partha Pratim Borah

Dr Partha Pratim Borah is a renowned Paediatrician in Guwahati. With over 21 years of clinical experience, he is currently associated as a Consultant with Pratiksha Rainbow Children’s Hospital.

His areas of expertise include:

Dr Borah completed his MBBS and later pursued:

• Diploma in Child Health from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, Guwahati
• Diploma in Paediatric Sleep Medicine from the National University Hospital, Singapore

With a strong focus on advanced paediatric care, Dr Borah currently leads multiple critical care units, including a 35-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a 6-bed Level III Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

He is the Founder of the first dedicated Paediatric Airway Department in Northeast India and heads the Paediatric Pulmonology and Paediatric Bronchoscopy services.

He is widely recognised for pioneering Paediatric Flexible Video Bronchoscopy in Northeast India, a milestone that has significantly improved airway diagnostics and treatment for children across eight northeastern states.

He also initiated Assam’s first universal newborn hearing screening programme in the private sector.

Apart from this, he established a comprehensive Developmental Paediatrics Centre.

He serves as the Joint National Coordinator for the National Cough Module under the Indian Academy of Paediatrics.

He is also a Resource Person for the Asthma Training Module and the General Emergency Management (GEM) Course under the IAP Respiratory Chapter.

In addition, he is an Executive Board Member of the National Respiratory Chapter, IAP.

His academic contributions include delivering national-level lectures and presentations, notably his talk on Basic Bronchoscopy in Children for the Indian Academy of Paediatrics in August 2020.

In recognition of his outstanding service to paediatric healthcare, Dr Partha has been honoured with a Special Citation Award by the Rotary Club, Guwahati City Branch.

He is an active member of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP).
