Dr. Sajan Hedge Karunakar

Dr Sajan Hedge Karunakar is working as Chief Spine Surgeon and  Head at Apollo Hospital, Greams Road in Chennai. He has 44 years of extensive experience in Orthopaedics and worked as an expert Orthopaedician in different cities in India. He has worked in many reputed hospitals like Apollo Cancer Centre, Teynampet, Vijaya Hospitals and PD Hinduja Sindhi Hospital.

Doctor Sajan Hedge Karunakar has performed Asia’s first deformity correction of infantile scoliosis using Shape Memory Alloy staples. He also introduced arthro-plastic reconstruction of lumbar and cervical discs in India. He has contributed to handling numerous complex medical cases in several hospitals and is known for his attention to accurate diagnosis and for treating patients empathetically.

The speciality interests of Dr Sajan are the treatment of spine problems like bone spurs, degenerative spinal disease and joint mobilisation, he also diagnoses the spinal cord with the help of MRI, CT scan, myelography and electromyogram.
