  • You should obtain a referral (in case of non-emergency treatment) from a CGHS Wellness Centre before availing services at a private empanelled hospital.

  • In emergencies, referral is not mandatory, and you can directly approach an empanelled hospital.

CGHS-Empanelled Hospitals in Delhi for Heart-Related (Cardiac) Care:

Dear Shellyka,

Thank you for sharing your MRI reports — We’ve reviewed them in detail, and here’s a clear explanation of what they indicate:

🩺 MRI Findings Summary:

  • You have mild degenerative disc changes in your lower spine (lumbar region).

  • A disc bulge at the L5-S1 level is pressing on the nerve roots on both sides (bilateral foraminal encroachment).

  • This can explain your symptoms—back pain radiating to arms, weakness in legs, and tailbone discomfort.

What This Means Medically: The disc bulge is likely compressing nerves that travel to your lower limbs, which may be causing the weakness and radiating pain. This condition is common and treatable.

✅ Next Steps for Treatment:

  1. Consult a spine specialist (orthopaedic or neurosurgeon)

  2. Treatment options may include:

    • Medication for inflammation and nerve pain

    • Physiotherapy to strengthen back and core muscles

    • Posture correction, lifestyle changes, and weight management (if needed)

    • Epidural injections or minimally invasive procedures, if pain is persistent

    • Surgery is only performed in rare, severe, or non-responsive cases

💬 How HexaHealth Can Help You:

  • Connect you with the best spine specialists in Ludhiana or nearby cities

  • Arrange a second opinion consultation

  • Assist with insurance-based treatment options

Your condition is manageable with proper medical guidance, and most patients recover well without surgery if treated early.

Please don’t delay

Dear Tarak ji,

We understand that despite following your doctor's advice — including X-ray, MRI, medications, and IFT (Interferential Therapy) — you're still experiencing severe pain in the upper left leg. Based on this, your doctor has recommended Endoscopic Spine Surgery (ESS), which is a minimally invasive procedure often used for conditions like slipped disc, nerve compression, or sciatica that haven't improved with non-surgical treatment.

What is ESS (Endoscopic Spine Surgery)?

ESS is a minimally invasive procedure where a small camera (endoscope) is inserted through a tiny incision to treat the affected area of the spine. It causes less tissue damage, faster recovery time, and usually leads to less post-operative pain than traditional surgery.

Best hospitals in Kolkata for Endoscopic Spine Surgery

  1. NH Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Mukundapur

  2. Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Mukundapur

  3. Manipal Hospital (formerly AMRI Dhakuria), Dhakuria

These hospitals have advanced neurosurgery/orthopaedics departments with experienced spine surgeons skilled in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine procedures.

Next steps you can consider

  • Share your MRI report with a spine specialist or neurosurgeon for a second opinion if needed

  • Discuss cost, insurance or Ayushman coverage if eligible

If you'd like, the HexaHealth team can help you:

  • Find the best ESS surgeon near you

  • Book appointments or assist with hospital comparison

  • Check for cashless insurance or Ayushman Bharat scheme options

Feel free to reach out with more details — we're here to support you.

Wishing you a pain-free recovery soon!

Dear Tarak Ji,

If you're looking to undergo spine surgery in Kolkata, several reputed hospitals offer experienced spine specialists and advanced surgical facilities.

Top hospitals in Kolkata for spine surgery:

  1. NH Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences – Mukundapur

  2. Medica Superspecialty Hospital – Mukundapur

  3. Manipal Hospital (formerly AMRI Dhakuria) – Dhakuria

These hospitals have advanced neurosurgery and orthopaedic spine departments offering minimally invasive and conventional spine procedures.

A few important things to understand about spine surgery:

  • Spine surgery is usually advised when non-surgical treatments (like physiotherapy and medications) fail to relieve symptoms such as severe back pain, leg pain, numbness, or mobility issues.

  • Common spine issues requiring surgery include: slipped disc (herniated disc), spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, or spine fractures.

  • Types of spine surgeries include: discectomy, laminectomy, spinal fusion, and minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS).

  • Your doctor will first evaluate your MRI, X-rays, and physical condition before recommending the right surgical option.

  • Recovery and rehabilitation are important parts of the process, and are discussed with you before the surgery.

If you'd like, the HexaHealth team can help you:

  • Book an appointment with a spine specialist in Kolkata

  • Check if cashless insurance can be used

  • Assist in comparing costs or facilities at the hospitals

Dear Ms. Lakshmi,

Frequent irritation and pain in the right eye can be caused by several factors, such as dry eyes, allergic reactions, conjunctivitis (eye infection), or even foreign particles in the eye. Sometimes, prolonged screen exposure, inadequate sleep, or environmental irritants like dust and pollution may also contribute.

🔎 General advice:

  • Rinse your eyes gently with clean water.

  • Limit screen time and get adequate rest.

  • Wear protective eyewear (like sunglasses) in dusty or polluted environments.

  • Avoid using over-the-counter eye drops without a proper medical evaluation.

👨‍⚕️ Note: Since your symptoms are recurring, it’s important to undergo an in-person eye examination. Recommending specific medicines without evaluating the eye can be unsafe and may not address the root cause.

We recommend that you consult an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) at the earliest.

Namaste Jashan ji,

Aapke symptoms aur concern humne achhi tarah samjhe hain — jaise ki khana muh mein aana (regurgitation), burping, chest aur pet ke beech mein heaviness, aur fatty liver ka diagnosis in LFT.

🩺 Hum aapko advise karenge ki aap ek baar gastroenterologist se consultation aur proper examination karwayein.
Gastro specialist aapke symptoms ke basis par kuch important tests recommend karenge, jaise:

  • Abdominal Ultrasound – fatty liver ka extent check karne ke liye

  • Upper GI Endoscopy – GERD ya acid reflux ke liye

  • H. Pylori Test – stomach infection rule out karne ke liye

  • CBC aur Repeat LFT – general health aur liver status jaanchne ke liye

  • ECG – agar chest heaviness frequent hai, toh cardiac reason rule out karne ke liye

🩹 Tests ke baad diagnosis confirm hoga aur uske according aapko proper treatment plan diya jaayega.

🔔 Tab tak ke liye kuch precautions lein, jo symptoms ko badhne se rok sakte hain:

  • Oily, spicy, aur heavy food se bachien

  • Raat ka khana sone se kam se kam 2–3 ghante pehle lein

  • Zyada chai, coffee, cold drinks aur smoking avoid karein

  • Din mein 3 heavy meals ke bajaye 4–5 light meals lein

  • Stress kam karein, aur agar weight zyada hai toh dheere-dheere kam karna start karein

Aapka swasthya sabse pehle hai — apna dhyan rakhein!

Dear Rehana,

Excess hair growth on the face (known as facial hirsutism) can occur due to multiple reasons, such as hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid issues, or sometimes even due to genetic or ethnic factors.

🩺 To recommend the right treatment, it's important first to understand the root cause. We suggest you consult with an endocrinologist, who may advise some initial evaluations, like:

  • Hormonal profile (including androgens/testosterone)

  • Ultrasound pelvis (to check for PCOS if suspected)

  • Thyroid function test

🔍 Treatment options may include:

  • Medical treatment: Hormonal therapy (if hormonal imbalance is found)

  • Cosmetic procedures: Laser hair reduction (LHR) gives long-term results, but only if advisable.

  • Lifestyle modifications: Managing weight and diet if PCOS or insulin resistance is a contributing factor

🌸 Don’t worry — this is a common concern and with the right guidance, it can be managed effectively.

Dear Madhukanth Ji,

Watery eyes and constant itching are commonly caused by allergic conjunctivitis, dry eyes, or sometimes mild eye infections. These symptoms can also be triggered by dust, pollution, seasonal allergies, or excessive screen time.

👨‍⚕️ Since the symptoms are persistent, we recommend you consult an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) for a proper eye examination. The doctor may evaluate for:

  • Allergies or irritants

  • Conjunctivitis

  • Dry eye syndrome

Please avoid rubbing your eyes, and try rinsing them gently with clean, cold water. Also, stay away from dusty environments and avoid over-the-counter drops without medical advice.

If needed, the HexaHealth team can help you schedule a quick consultation with a verified eye doctor near you.

Dear Sonu Ji,

Thank you for sharing your concern — hair thinning and receding hairline can be distressing, especially when remedies don't bring expected results. A change in environment (like moving to a new city) can sometimes trigger hair fall due to water quality, climate, or stress, but consistent and progressive hair loss often has deeper causes, like androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness), nutritional deficiencies, or scalp conditions.

🩺 Since you've already tried Ayurvedic remedies without relief and are concerned about the side effects of allopathic medicines like minoxidil or finasteride, here's what we suggest:

  1. Consultation with a dermatologist/trichologist – A clinical examination and scalp analysis will help identify the exact cause of your hair loss.

  2. Blood tests may be recommended to rule out deficiencies (like Vitamin D, B12, iron) or hormonal imbalances.

  3. Based on the findings, the doctor can advise a personalised, low-risk treatment plan, which could include:

    • Mild topical solutions or natural-based alternatives with fewer side effects

    • Nutritional supplements

    • Non-invasive therapies like PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), low-level laser therapy, or mesotherapy

    • Lifestyle and diet modification

🔍 Important: Minoxidil and finasteride may have side effects in some individuals, but a doctor can help you understand safer usage, alternatives, or tailor lower-strength options if suitable.

Hair loss is manageable, but the key is early diagnosis, expert care and a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Hello Vishal,

We're sorry to hear about your accident. We hope you're recovering well.

Firstly, based on your description — fractured ribs and fluid in the lung (possibly pleural effusion) — it's important to consider the following:

🔹 Questions for you:

  • Have you been admitted to a hospital, or are you managing this at home?

  • Are you experiencing difficulty in breathing, chest pain, or fever?

Based on general guidelines, here's the usual treatment and precautions:

🔹 Immediate Treatment:

  • Pain Management: Adequate pain control is essential (usually with analgesics or sometimes nerve blocks) to allow proper breathing and avoid lung infections.

  • Monitoring the Lung Fluid:

    • Small amounts of fluid may resolve on their own with observation.

    • Large or worsening fluid collections might need drainage (thoracentesis or chest tube insertion).

  • Breathing Exercises: Deep breathing and incentive spirometry are recommended to prevent pneumonia and lung collapse.

🔹 Precautions for Healing:

  • Avoid heavy lifting, sudden movements, or straining.

  • Rest adequately, but do gentle breathing exercises daily.

  • Monitor for signs of complications:

    • Increased chest pain

    • Difficulty in breathing

    • Fever (could indicate infection)

  • Attend regular follow-ups and imaging as advised by your doctor.

🔹 General Recovery Plan:

  • Rib fractures usually heal in 6–8 weeks.

  • The fluid collection must initially be reassessed by imaging every few days.

  • Physical therapy may be started once you are stable to maintain lung and chest wall function.

⚕️ Important:
If you feel increased breathlessness, sharp chest pain, a cough with blood, or fever, seek emergency medical attention immediately.

Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery! 🌟

Namaste Rajendra ji,

Aapka sawaal bahut important hai. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) ek serious condition hai jisme pair ya kisi aur ang mein gehri naso (veins) mein khoon ka thakka (blood clot) ban jaata hai. Agar iska sahi samay par ilaaj na ho to clot lungs tak jaakar jaanleva ho sakta hai (Pulmonary Embolism).

🔹 DVT ka Ilaaj mein kya kya hota hai:

  • Blood Thinners: Ye dawaaiyaan khoon ko patla karti hain taaki clot aur na bade aur naye clots na bane.

  • Compression Stockings: Special socks pair mein pehna jaata hai jo sujan aur dard kam karte hain.

  • DVT Pump (Sequential Compression Device):

    • Yeh ek machine hoti hai jo pairon mein pressure daalti hai aur blood circulation improve karti hai.

    • Iska use un patients mein kiya jaata hai jo bed rest par hote hain ya movement kam hoti hai, taaki naye clots banne se bachaa ja sake.

  • Surgical Intervention (Rare Cases):

    • Agar clot bahut bada hai aur medicines se control nahi hota, to doctors thrombectomy surgery recommend karte hain.

    • Is procedure mein clot ko direct nikaala jaata hai vein se.

    • Kabhi kabhi catheter-directed thrombolysis bhi hota hai jisme ek catheter ke through clot ko dissolve ya remove kiya jaata hai (specialist ke advice ke hisaab se).

🔹 Important Precautions:

  • Doctor ke bataaye gaye blood thinners ko time se lena.

  • Zyada der tak baithne ya late rehne se bachna.

  • Thoda chalna-phirna surakshit tarike se karna (doctor ki salah se).

  • Smoking band karna aur healthy diet lena.

⚕️ Chahein to HexaHealth aapko vascular specialist se consult karwane, DVT ka sahi ilaaj plan banwane aur hospital appointment lene mein madad kar sakta hai. 📞

Dear Mr Nagarajan,

Thank you for reaching out to the HexaHealth Doctor Community.

Regarding your query about pacemaker battery replacement —
This is a common and generally safe procedure known as pacemaker generator replacement. It is necessary when the battery, also called the generator, nears the end of its lifespan (usually after 5-10 years, depending on usage and device type).

Recommended Treatment Plan

  • Assessment: A detailed check, including device interrogation, is done to confirm battery depletion.

  • Procedure: The replacement is a relatively straightforward surgery, typically performed under local anaesthesia. Only the battery (pulse generator) is replaced; the leads (wires connected to the heart) are usually left in place if they are functioning well.

  • Recovery: Most patients are discharged the same day or the next day. Physical activity may be restricted for 2-3 weeks to allow proper healing.

Precautions to Take

  • Avoid heavy lifting or vigorous arm movements on the side of the pacemaker for at least 2–4 weeks.

  • Follow up regularly to monitor the new device's functioning.

  • Notify airport security and healthcare providers about the pacemaker.

  • Watch for signs of infection like redness, swelling, or fever after the procedure and report immediately.

To assist you better, could you please let us know:

  • Are you looking for a second opinion?

  • Do you need help finding the best doctor or hospital in Chennai?

  • Are you looking to understand the cost and insurance coverage options?
