Patients are advised to,
Post-operative care includes detailed care instructions, wound healing process & knowhow on incision care.
Drains: You will be instructed on how to take care of the drains (if any). Lifestyle: You can start walking the next day of the surgery but intense physical activities should be avoided for at least six weeks. Avoid positions that put pressure on the abdominal area, such as suddenly bending the waist. Take a diet rich in fibres that have ample fluid intake which helps in avoiding constipation & in turn, abdominal pain.
Wound Care: You will be asked to wear a compression garment for a few weeks to a few months. The abdominal garment will help fasten the recovery process by providing abdominal support & preventing fluid build-up. Keep the incision area covered with a dressing to prevent infection & complications.
