Frequently Asked Questions

Both healthy men and women. It is specifically helpful for women who have had post-childbirth and want to tighten abdominal muscles and reduce loose, sagging skin. Also, people who were obese earlier & have now lost significant fat but still have excessive fat & loose skin around their tummies.

Tummy Tuck is not a weight-loss or bariatric procedure. It is recommended for people with their normal weight who are active & healthy but have protruding abdomen or sagging loose skin.

Patients are advised to,

  • Quit smoking at least six weeks before the procedure because smoking slows down the healing process & may cause complications during or after the procedure
  • You will be asked to undergo a medical evaluation to check fitness for surgery
  • Medications to adjust present medical conditions, if any
  • Discuss the medicines to be avoided, like aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory drugs, with your surgeon

The surgery usually takes 3-4 hours & is combined with Liposuction for a contoured look. The patient is generally discharged two days after the surgery.

Post-operative care includes detailed care instructions, wound healing process & knowhow on incision care.

Drains: You will be instructed on how to take care of the drains (if any). Avoid positions that put pressure on the abdominal area, such as suddenly bending the waist. Take a diet rich in fibres that have ample fluid intake which helps in avoiding constipation & in turn, abdominal pain.

Wound Care: You will be asked to wear a compression garment for a few weeks to a few months. The abdominal garment will help fasten the recovery process by providing abdominal support & preventing fluid build-up. Keep the incision area covered with a dressing to prevent infection & complications.

Medications: Antibiotics & pain-killers to prevent infection & di

In Liposuction, fat is sucked out through tiny holes (tiny ports). In Abdominoplasty, muscles of the abdomen are reconstructed & loose skin is removed
